Imagine that one good morning you wake up and notice that your PSP is not behaving the way it should be. So before you pick up the receiver and call Sony to help you out, it's quite possible that your toolkit and internet might solve the problem! Thus here we'll address few of the common PSP repair issues.
The backlighting fuse is most prone to have gone off. Before you think of soldering, use a voltage tester and test if there is connection. In order to do this you need a soldering kit, few screw drivers, a piece of wire and a multi-meter.
The first step would be to dismantle the PSP (yes! The sleek cool look of PSP might scare you from doing so, but don't be!). 1. Remove the warranty sticker 2. Remove all the screws from back panel. 3. Now pull out the face plate and also the plate held by one small silver screw.
Well, these steps can be followed to check any problem, and now let us see how to remove the button bar.
1 .Take the small screwdriver and put it on the lip of the button which is on the left side and remove the screw slowly, so that the bar can be removed apart from the metal housing. Try not to lose the rubber contact.
2. Now slowly unplug the flex cable attached to the button bars by pulling the tab up and pushing the cable outside.
Steps to remove your LCD panel of your PSP
1. Remove the flex link connectors. Watch out while you do this, as they are delicate and you might jam them.2. A small metal housing towards the left of the panel which holds the panel in place. Slowly slide in a flat screw driver and pop out the tabs of the panel outside. Repeat the same on the opposite side so that you can reach the flex cable.3. There will be brown part on the cable which you can lift. After you have uplifted the clamps, blow the LCD panel instead of wiping it. Now it's time to remove LCD Brace
1. You can Start by pulling out the screws from abaft the battery and gently take the brace outside the housing and the Dpad with the help of a flat driver. 2. Press and open the door of the UMD. And let it free. And now in case your backlight is not working, try replacing it with another one and still if the same persists, lookout for the fuse which is labeled as FD, test its continuity and take a small piece of wire and bypass it by soldering the wire to the two pads on motherboard. Replace the LCD screen and check if it works. And for repairing the USB fuse search for LD fuse and jumper it to fix you USB (in case there is no continuity).
