The car's surface has a big scratch, so it is necessary to sand it out. With that large scratch no longer seen, there are only 7 more really large scratches to flaw an otherwise perfectly prepared area. As soon as the 7 really large scratches have been rendered into perfection, there are only 39 more really obvious scratches... . The job in writing at this stage is to remove the first scratch and then clean and mask the area to be painted... .

It felt strange not posting last night. The local hardware store had 2/3 of the components needed to connect the generator to the transfer switch; the last third is due to be delivered today. If I make it into town, I may be able to call the generator wiring a completed project. :)

Michelle and I talked a bit about progress and about things which have compromised our individual writing plans. Kim and I talked about New Year's plans, and we were invited out for dinner last night. The word count for the day had been met by the time we left, but I had hoped to add more after we had returned. Fatigue being stronger than will, I went to bed early.

I bought a gaggle of birthday cards yesterday, so I have several specific people covered.... The next goal is to send them out in time to reach their intended recipients.

On the writing front: I am about to twist seemingly disparate plot threads into the yarn which will be woven into the finished tapestry. Today is part forging forward, part shoring up troops bringing up the rear. My original goal was to have the discipline to finish the 50,000 word novel by the end of the month. The goal was upped to having it done by the 29th, and then it was going to be shared. The goal is still the 29th, but now it may have enough merit to be edited, so I may be involved with it beyond the original plan. It is just so hard to do something just to get it completed; if quality is in there, it has to be set free.
